Our story
A home since 1685, a pub since 1861
Tucked into the village of Long Marston, The Masons Arms has been welcoming people through its door for over a century and a half.

Our history
From private house to village local
The building at the heart of The Masons Arms was originally built as a private house in 1685. It became the local hostelry in 1861, and has been serving the village of Long Marston ever since.
We've carefully refurbished the inside over the years, but kept what makes it feel like home - the timber, the hearth, and a spacious lawn out front for the summer.
- Built as a private house in 1685
- Became the village pub in 1861
- A traditionally styled inn, carefully refurbished inside
Above our door sits a masonic emblem framing a heraldic shield - three gold castle towers, a white chevron and a knight's helm - a mark of the building's long history in the village. We haven't found any record beyond the crest itself of a formal masonic connection to the pub's founding; it's simply part of the building's character, and part of what gives The Masons Arms its name.
Out the back
Find our secret garden out the back
Out the front, there's a proper village-pub lawn with picnic tables. But round the back, past the outbuildings, is our real secret - a decked terrace that opens straight onto open farmland.
Bunting, string lights, mismatched chairs and planters give it a relaxed, put-your-feet-up feel by day. Come evening, it's one of the best spots around for watching the sun go down over the fields.
- Decked rear terrace, hidden from the road
- Uninterrupted views over the neighbouring field
- String lights & bunting for evenings outdoors
- Spacious front lawn and picnic tables too
A pub for everyone in the village
- Free wifi throughout
- Sky Sports & TNT Sports
- Dogs welcome
- Family friendly
- Darts board & skittle alley
- Beer garden, front and back
Hungry?
Pub food with a twist
From loaded fries and wood-fired-style pizza to a proper Sunday roast, our kitchen keeps the classics honest and adds a twist where it counts.
